You can grow a wonderful range of salad plants with very little trouble. They are the perfect thing to grow, the idea is to plant a few seedlings and every few days or so you cut the leaves as you like when they are young, small and fresh, and you continue to do this all summer long. You can harvest the salad leaves as soon as they look like the leaves you get in a supermarket bag of salad, take a few off for a nice fresh tasting lunch and as long as you don't damage the central growing point of the plant or remove all its leaves, it will keep growing.
