Place in an area protected from cold, drying winds. Best in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Keep soil moist, watering freely in dry weather. Prune as needed to maintain size or shape. Figs offer one of the highest plant sources of calcium known to exist. The tree has beautiful deeply lobed, tropical-looking foliage and is very ornamental in the landscape, or in a large patio container. Fig trees can be very prolific and within a couple of years after planting should produce an abundance of fruit.
